The Fairmont St Andrews is appealing to guests who could miss out on a slot to play golf on the Old Course by reassuring them that they’ll still get their tee-time fix courtesy of its new ‘Ballot Back-Up’ service.
It says that those staying at the resort will typically enter themselves into a ballot for a chance to secure a tee-off time on the famous green and that, in a bid to avoid disappointment for those who are unsuccessful, the resort will automatically back this up with a corresponding time on one of its two championship courses, The Kittocks and The Torrance.
Director of golf Amy Yeates said: “Many people visiting St Andrews – and staying at our resort – will enter themselves into the ballot or may use our concierge service to do so. Obviously there is a finite number of people who will be successful, however, we want to ensure those who miss out can still enjoy golf on a championship course at their chosen time.
“The complimentary ‘Ballot Back-Up’ service is designed to do exactly that. It gives guests peace of mind in knowing they can enter the ballot, but if they aren’t successful, they have golf already booked and confirmed at our resort.”
Fairmont St Andrews, which has recently undergone a £17 million redevelopment to incorporate a new spa complex, believes this new, flexible guaranteed golf system is the first and only one of its kind in Fife and, therefore, expects it to be well subscribed.
