Visitors to St Andrews are invited to get along to a free event this week to sample some of Jannetta’s award-winning ice cream and see how it’s made.
They’re encouraged to book for what Jannetta’s anticipates will be a hugely popular gelato session – as part of St Andrews Food and Drink Festival, which runs throughout November – this Saturday (November 21) between 7 and 9pm.
According to Bennett Jannetta, when he arrived from Italy nearly 100 years ago the only flavour on offer was vanilla.
Now, his family – the fourth generation of Jannettas, led by Owen Hazel and his wife, Nicola – is offering 54 different flavours of traditional ice cream, as well as frozen yoghurts and sorbets.
Owen said: “Having enjoyed such a long and successful presence in the town, we were delighted to be asked to take part in St Andrews Food and Drink Festival. Come and hear about the family’s history, see a demonstration and, more importantly, taste the gelato!”
Call 01334 473285 to book.
