A contraflow will be in operation on the Forth Road Bridge from 7pm on Saturday, 14 May till 10.30am on Sunday, 15 May, with traffic restricted to a single lane in each direction.
Amey, the operating company for the Forth Road Bridge, says these restrictions are necessary to allow essential permanent repairs to the reinforced concrete deck slab, waterproofing and surfacing on the northbound carriageway.
An extended overnight closure is required in order to provide enough time for the concrete to gain strength and resurfacing and waterproofing materials to set.
Mark Arndt, Amey’s operating company representative for the Forth Bridges Unit, said: “We’ve scheduled these repairs for a Sunday morning in order to minimise disruption to traffic. Nevertheless, some delays are still possible towards the end of the closure, so we recommend allowing some extra time for your journey if that’s when you need to cross the bridge.”
