Scotland B2B is in the running for a national award and needs your votes

Scotland B2B has been nominated for a national award which supports parents and flexible working

Scotland B2B has been nominated in the mumandworking Awards 2016 – hosted by Natwest – and is urging you to cast your vote in support if you like what you see.
Managing editor Lynda Hamilton, who founded the title in 2015, is in the running for Working Parent Blogger of the Year and is inviting readers to vote online by September if they enjoy reading Scotland B2B.
we've been nominated blog awardShe has been shortlisted for running a successful site which features inspiring topical content for other working parents.
As you know, Scotland B2B (East Coast Edition) has been set up for SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs based or operating across Fife and Edinburgh so fits the bill for this category perfectly.
Not only that, but its business model fits in with the awards’ very ethos, which is to highlight amazing individuals, inspiring employers and the many advantages of flexible, family-friendly employment.
Lynda Hamilton launched the business while expecting her third child after the business newspaper she previously worked on was bought over and ceased trading. She was keen to continue to pursue her career and support her family financially but, having worked from home for the last four years, didn’t want to leave her children to re-enter the workplace and wanted to maintain her flexibility to accommodate their daily needs.
As a journalist and part-time PR consultant, she was passionate about sharing SME news and found that running a flexible business was a bonus when her partner suffered a work-related accident and had to take time out.
Since then, the soon-to-be husband and wife team have split their working weeks – and the childcare – between them.
The awards have been designed to empower parents to achieve their potential; help realise the enormous commercial benefits of flexible working to employers and business owners; recognise the substantial contribution to the UK economy; support modern-day family life, and celebrate the importance of the UK’s parent-preneurs.
Scotland B2B is one of only two business blogs to be shortlisted in this year’s category.
Not only was it launched to help to celebrate and support other business leaders with its news reports and advisory articles, but as a family-friendly business to afford its writers to work flexibly from home while juggling the requirements of modern parenthood.
Its franchise business model will, in time, also give other working parents the opportunity to run their own news titles flexibly around other commitments as the publication is rolled out to other areas of Scotland and beyond.
Opportunities to run Scotland B2B (Glasgow Edition) and Scotland B2B (Highlands and Islands Edition), for example, will be available in the near future.
Its sponsorship funding model also enables its supporters to share unlimited news and advice within what is a growing SME community.
Winning the award would be a great honour for the Scotland B2B team and it’s sponsors, without whom we wouldn’t be able to continue to share relevant, local business content.
