Edinburgh IP expert remains top of Scottish trademark rankings

Marks & Clerk is one of just three firms in Scotland to be given the highest ranking of ‘Tier 1’ status for trade mark prosecution

Intellectual property specialist Marks & Clerk has been rated as one of Scotland’s top performers for trademark work.
The Edinburgh-based firm received recognition in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars 2017 trade mark firm rankings which rate work across more than 80 jurisdictions around the world.
The rankings are based on six months of research carried out by Managing IP’s analysts who obtain information through interviews, emails and online surveys.
Marks & Clerk – which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen – is one of just three firms in Scotland to be given the highest ranking of ‘Tier 1’ status for trade mark prosecution, encompassing work with clients to obtain trade mark protection at intellectual property offices around the world.
This is the ninth consecutive year that the firm has been ranked in Tier 1 in Scotland.
Marks & Clerk is also nominated for the “Scottish prosecution firm of the year” at this year’s Managing Intellectual Property Global Awards, which will take place in London on Thursday 9 March.
Campbell Newell, Head of Marks & Clerk’s Scottish trademark practice, said: “We are hugely proud to have retained our top ranking in recognition of the stellar work of our team of trade mark practitioners.
“Our Scottish team advises clients of all sizes, spanning a broad range of sectors, on trade mark issues to ensure they get the most effective management of their IP. We are committed to delivering excellence and our Tier 1 status is testament to this.”
