Edinburgh IT specialist to lend expertise to Digital Infrastructure Action Plan
Independent IT and telecoms specialist Farrpoint has been appointed to advise the Scottish Government on the planning and roll-out of its Digital Infrastructure Action Plan.
The Edinburgh firm will lend its specialist broadband and infrastructure expertise to the project, having worked across the UK on connectivity projects with local and central government and enterprise agencies.
Its CEO and co-founder, Dr Andrew Muir, will lead the team, with support from infrastructure and connectivity experts from across the wider FarrPoint broadband division.
The Digital Infrastructure Action Plan was announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at the last election and will include the Reaching 100% Superfast Broadband Coverage Programme (R100) by March 2021.
Muir said: “The R100 programme is a crucial part of the Government’s vision for ensuring that Scotland’s digital infrastructure is among the best in the world. We are delighted to have been appointed and to be able to build on our previous work with the Scottish Government in the superfast broadband space.”
R100 programme director Clive Downing said: “The Scottish Government’s commitment to 100% superfast broadband coverage is a key cornerstone of the world class vision. We are looking forward to working in partnership with FarrPoint, our other advisors and public sector partners to deliver this programme.”
