DLA Piper embraces #BeBoldForChange campaign for International Women’s Day
DLA Piper is set to host an event to celebrate the success of its inspirational female lawyers as part of International Women’s Day this Wednesday (8 March).
Both men and women from a range of different industries, including finance, technology and property, are expected to turn out for the event, which is being hosted by business coach and author Dr Suzanne Doyle-Morris, who helps companies build inclusive leadership skills, at the firm’s Rutland Square office.
The firm says its Edinburgh Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW) committee will challenge its guests to take action which truly drives change for females to help mark this year’s #BeBoldForChange theme.
Hazel Moffat, head of DLA Piper’s litigation and regulatory practice in Scotland, said: “International Women’s Day is a celebration of how far we have come for gender parity but also highlights the work that is still left to do. It has been predicted by the World Economic Forum that the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186 – this is far too long to wait, we need to act now.
“The aim of our event is to inspire women in business to be bold, confident and successful. As part of an interactive workshop, everyone will be asked to take part in virtual simulations of real life situations that look at complex issues around inclusion and diversity. It will be an effective and hopefully fun way of prompting behaviour change to encourage businesses to act now.”
DLA Piper was named Best International Firm for Women in Business Law at the Euromoney LMG Europe Women in Business Law Awards and Best Gender Diversity Initiative in an International Firm in 2016.
