Small Housebuilder of the Year recognition goes to S1 Developments

The industry’s top housebuilders have been crowned in what is thought to be the largest new-build housing competition ever held in Scotland.
They include Edinburgh-based S1 Developments, which was named Small Housebuilder of the Year in the Scottish Home Awards for the third consecutive time after collecting the award for Apartment Development of the Year for Horne Terrace in the Capital. The boutique builder also collected the award for Small Development of the Year.
Other east of Scotland winners in the Scottish Home Awards – sponsored by Ross + Liddell – were Quartermile Developments, Snowdrop Developments, and Stewart Milne Homes.
More than 500 people gathered at the awards dinner celebration, which was delivered in partnership with a number of industry bodies, including the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and Chartered Institute of Housing, alongside the help of an expert judging panel. Ninteen awards were handed out in total.
Andrew Cunningham, Director of Ross + Liddell, said: “What an incredible year for housebuilders who have consistently delivered innovative, high quality buildings and a service which places the customer at the centre of its success.  The Scottish Home Awards offers a vital role supporting and promoting the hard work creating new desirable housing for an ever increasing population. Congratulations to all our finalists and winners for showing us all how it can be done.”
Guests at the awards contributed to the charity ‘It’s Good 2 Give’ after it recently opened The Ripple Retreat, a luxury residential retreat on the shores of Loch Venacher in the Trossachs’ National Park. The property was also presented with its own Judges Award of Merit which was accepted by founder of the charity, Lynne McNicoll. The property will be gifted for short stay visits to young cancer patients and their families for respite breaks of up to six nights.
