Employment law, HR and health & safety specialist Law At Work (LAW) has made nine new appointments across its Glasgow and Edinburgh offices which it says are part of a “concerted effort” to expand the business into England.
Leading the charge is newly-appointed business development director Miriam Byrne who joins from rival Ellis Whittam Limited where she was regional business director.
She is supported by two new business development executives, Neil Small in the Edinburgh office and Nicky Krissa, who will join Byrne in Glasgow, where new trainees Paman Singh and Kirstie Beattie will take also up posts.
Angela McCracken, a qualified solicitor previously of Balfour + Mason LLP, joins the Edinburgh team of employment lawyers, which will also include newly-qualified Anita Mulholland, who has completed her two-year training and been retained by the firm.
Two further appointments: Steven McCallum, health & safety manager, and Steven Smith, operations manager, have been made in the Glasgow office.
Chief executive Jane Wright said: “This year will be one where we invest significantly in the business, both in our IT systems and in people to support our efforts in growing the business. I believe that these additional appointments put us on a firm footing to secure further new business both in Scotland and England.
“Miriam is an important appointment for LAW and I’m very pleased to welcome her to the team. She has a strong track record of building relationships with new and existing clients and will play a key role in leading the growth of our business. We attract high quality people into our team as we continue to shake up the employment law and health & safety support marketplace with our unique client-focussed way of working.
“Businesses are increasingly becoming interested in LAW’s approach; providing clients with all-inclusive, fixed-fee pricing, without compromising on quality and with a single minded approach to client care.”
Byrne said: “LAW is the only company I would have moved to this marketplace because they were the biggest challenger in my previous role. I have been impressed by how innovative and forward-thinking they have been in their approach. I am excited to be part of the team and am very much looking forward to working closely with our new and potential clients.”
