New Stephenson Fund to support cutting edge technologies

Scottish companies developing cutting edge technologies could benefit from a new funding scheme launched today (September 1, 2015) by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
They’re eligible to apply for support from the Stephenson Fund, which has been set up to help businesses overcome hurdles such as making the leap from research and development to taking a product to market.
According to IMechE, the new fund backs technologies which “give an impulse to invention likely to be useful to the world” – the original statement of purpose from IMechE founder George Stephenson.
The fund is being independently managed by Midven, a privately-owned institutional venture fund manager of six funds totalling more than £70 million which have invested in a variety of sectors, such as software, bio technology, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing and distribution.
