‘Important’ stretch of motorway between Fife and Edinburgh to be repaired
Essential maintenance on the M90 at Junction 2 northbound will take place from 8pm on Friday, 10 June until 6am on Monday, 13 June 2016.
The work requires a full northbound carriageway closure on the M90 between Junction 2 and Junction 2a, and the A823 (M) northbound on slip road. A contraflow system will be in operation on the southbound carriageway, with two lanes allotted to southbound traffic and one for northbound traffic for the extent of the works.
During Saturday and Sunday daytime (from 10am till 8pm) the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway will be used as an additional running lane for northbound traffic. Slip road traffic for the A823 (M) will be diverted via the M90 southbound Junction 1 southbound off slip road, and will return to the M90 northbound from Admiralty Roundabout.
An important section of motorway connecting Edinburgh to Fife, this stretch of road lies between Junction 2 Pitreavie and J2A Crossgates, and is used by around 26,000 motorists each day. By undertaking this work, with a value of £350,000, we can ensure road users continue to experience greater journey time reliability, improved safety and comfort.
