Storks to help Edinburgh courier and postal service deliver this October

Mail Boxes Etc hopes movie release tie-up will send sales soaring

Forget carrier pigeon, it’s storks that are the preferred choice of one Edinburgh delivery service which has chosen to harness ‘bird-power’ to deliver this autumn.
Customers of Mail Boxes Etc, which specialises in worldwide parcel delivery, courier and postal services from its locations at Rose Street, South Bridge and Morningside, can expect their packages and parcels to arrive courtesy of some feathered friends as part of a special promotion to celebrate the release of the new Warner Bros. movie, ‘Storks’. storks-mbe-trade-press-image

“For the month of October, all our customers’ packages and parcels will be delivered by storks,” says John-Eirik Docherty, one of three local businessmen who own the stores.

“The storks are now nesting in the windows of our stores in the form of life-size character cut-outs. We’re running a prize draw and giving away free movie posters to our customers to celebrate the launch of the movie, Storks.”

The storks in question are animated characters from the new film, which opens in cinemas on 14 October. From the studio that created The Lego© Movie, Storks brings us a world where storks no longer deliver babies. Instead, they deliver packages – and when Warner Bros. was looking for a retailer to help spread the word about the new film, post and parcel expert Mail Boxes Etc. seemed the ideal choice, says the firm.

Docherty, who owns the three stores along with partners Dag Docherty and David Hastings, said: “We’re so excited to be collaborating with one of the big Hollywood movie studios to promote their main animation adventure release of the year and we’re celebrating with a fabulous prize draw to win a family trip to Barcelona, complete with a helicopter tour for a stork’s-eye view of the city.storks-mbe-press-image

“Everyone who sends a parcel with us in-store during October can enter, and there’s no limit to the number of entries you can make, as long as you’ve shipped a package with us in each case.”

50 runners-up will receive a pair of cinema tickets.

“There’s lots of other exciting stuff going on in-store, too. Everyone who sends a parcel with us will get a pack of Storks pairs cards. Customers can also pick up a Storks poster for their kids, and take a ‘selfie’ with one of our life-size Storks characters. Storks is going to be huge this autumn, and we want to give our customers the chance to join in the fun.”

Mail Boxes Etc also specialises in business card and leaflet printing, fast digital copy services, mailbox rental, and virtual office packages.
