Coiffed canines help Edinburgh hair salon boost charity coffers

Hairdresser hopes to send its fundraising through the woof

Hair by JFK is well known among its friends and customers for being a dog-friendly business but, this year, the Edinburgh salon has decided to take its canine love to the next level.
The Bruntsfield Place hairdresser has released a 2017 calendar featuring its clients’ dogs following a furry photo shoot at Studio8 Scotland, which is also based in the Capital. It’s currently selling the calendars in the salon and plans to donate the proceeds to local charity The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
According to JFK, the calendar combines its two great loves: hairdressing and dogs. On the day of the shoot, dog owners were invited to come along to the photography studio where their pets were pampered and groomed by Hair by JFK stylists and lavished with treats.
It says the end result is inspired by pop art artist Andy Warhol – quirky and full of colour, just like the JFK salon itself. Each calendar month features a different dog and even includes three of the salon’s resident dogs, Aella, Rufus and Boris.aella
Hair by JFK has been fundraising for The Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home for a number of years.
Director Karen Brown said: “To know that the proceeds we have made make a difference to many cats and dogs at The Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home is a fantastic feeling and we are honored to be involved with such a magnificent local charity.”
