Edinburgh financial planning and investment advice firm boosts the coffers of the Winning Scotland Foundation
Edinburgh-based Carbon Financial Partners has raised £35k for charity by saddling up for a five-day 500-mile cycle round the north coast of Scotland.
The financial planning and investment advice firm has donated the proceeds of its fundraising effort to the Winning Scotland Foundation, which provides opportunities for young people to learn important skills for life through its work in schools, sport and communities.
A team of 10, comprising employees and friends of the firm, took on the challenge – cycling the mountainous route and enduring poor weather conditions.
Mark Beaumont, adventure cyclist and ambassador for Winning Scotland Foundation, who spoke at the cheque presentation event at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, said: “Huge congratulations to the team from Carbon Financial for completing the challenge – a stunning but grueling route, and for their sterling efforts in support of Winning Scotland Foundation.”
Sir Bill Gammell, former CEO of Cairn Energy and chairman of the Winning Scotland Foundation, said: “We are so grateful for this cheque for the fantastic sum of money raised by Carbon Financial Partners. The cycling team really devoted themselves to the physical and mental challenge. The funds raised will allow Winning Scotland Foundation to work with even more children across Scotland to help them to develop skills for life such as resilience, team work, confidence and leadership.”
The fundraising was supported by a number of large corporate donations from Maven Capital Partners, SARN Technologies, Johnston Smillie accountants, Craneware software specialists and Fifth Ring marketing agency.
