Midlothian telecoms firm ups 2017 targets after bumper year

TenTel doesn’t muck about when it comes to broadband provision – just ask the 100 customers it’s signing up a day

A Midlothian firm says it’s experiencing record growth after consistently signing up more than 100 customers a day to its short-term flexible broadband, phone and TV packages for the last few months.
TenTel had originally set its sights on the 100 a day milestone as a target for 2017 but has recently enjoyed its most successful month ever, with 2,000 orders placed in October.
The company, which currently provides telecoms to more than 10,000 UK customers, says it’s expecting further growth as it enters the new year.
Managing director Robert McKechnie said: “The last 12 months have seen fantastic growth for TenTel and our record figures are testament to this.
“We have established ourselves as one of the fastest-growing independent internet service providers in the UK, with more than 10 per cent revenue growth month-on-month.
“We are seeing growing demand for short-term broadband options as well as telephone contracts that don’t tie you in to lengthy contracts or incur big connection charges. As well as appealing to the general consumer, letting agents also now account for an increasing portion of our customer base.”
The company acquired utility management company Hallmark in March this year and now provides an all-inclusive hub for the lettings industry.
Last month, the rapidly expanding business celebrated one year at its office in Shawfair on the edge of Edinburgh.
Starting out with a core team of 30 sales, technical and administrative staff it now employs more than 80 people, and expects to employ an additional 10 staff by Christmas.
Its management team has set a further target of signing-up an extra 20,000 customers by July 2017.
