Sodexo Prestige rewards long-serving events staff


Events industry stalwart estimates he has planned and delivered more than 800 weddings and nearly 3,000 private and corporate events

Three events industry stalwarts have clocked up a collective total of nearly 90 years with South Queensferry-based employer Sodexo Prestige.
Employees Elaine Brown, events office manager, and Karen Burton, who oversees Sodexo’s recruitment hub, ‘Prestige People’, are set to receive Long Service Awards to mark more than 30 years with the company, while David Forbes, business development executive, is to be recognised after serving 20 years.
They are all based in Sodexo’s South Queensferry head office and, over the years, have taken on various roles with the catering and events specialist.
Brown and Burton started their careers as temporary waiting staff in the 1980s, while Forbes joined as a supervisor following a student placement in 1995.
Forbes estimates he has planned and delivered more than 800 weddings and nearly 3,000 private and corporate events. Meanwhile, Brown has met the Queen three times and Burton has organised thousands of staff for events ranging from The Open to concerts at Hampden Park.
In recognition of their loyal service, the trio were treated to a trip to London where they had lunch aboard Bateaux London, a luxury restaurant cruise, before enjoying a gala dinner and overnight stay in a top hotel.
