Edinburgh’s Castlebrae Business Centre approaches full occupancy
Castlebrae Business Centre – run by Craigmillar-based social enterprise Cre8te Opportunities, which offers free business support and affordable workspace – is approaching full occupancy after welcoming a number of new tenants.
Its occupancy level has grown over the last six months from 75% to circa 95%, with new tenants including kids’ retail company The Sprouts Association; voluntary support organisation Inclusion Alliance, and online gift shop Terrapin Trading.
The business centre – also in Craigmillar – has recently undergone a £2 million refurbishment to create more than 35,000 sq ft of modern office and studio space.
It’s set up to benefit the local community by offering flexible lease terms and competitive rents in the region of £10 per sq ft, including a service charge.
Cameron Whyte, senior surveyor at Ryden, which has been marketing the property, said: “We are delighted with the progress over the last few months at Castlebrae Business Centre following the refurbishment earlier this year.
“The business centre is particularly popular for its flexible lease terms and attractive large open plan and versatile rooms which accommodate office, studio and light workshop uses.”
Sharron Stanton, chief executive of Cre8te Opportunities, added: “The flexibility of our lease terms enables small to large businesses to access affordable accommodation, without being tied into lengthy lease terms.
“The refurbishment of the Castlebrae Business Centre is a major boost for the local area of Craigmillar and the variety of tenants within the building helps create the amazing atmosphere that was lacking before the refurbishment.
“Cre8te would like to thank Ryden for their help and assistance in enabling this iconic building to thrive once again.”
