Health and safety: 12 days of Christmas – don’t be another statistic

Did you know that over the past decade nearly 25% of all workplace fatalities occurred in November and December?

Working environments are hectic places at the best of times, let alone at Christmas, where the sheer amount of people working under one roof to process packages, and load and unload vehicles means that health and safety is more important than ever.
A cohesive health and safety policy provides a framework for efficient, and safe, production in the workplace.  Whether that be in a factory with heavy machinery, or an office with dozens of workers. Turning a blind eye to potential safety risks and failing to maintain safe behaviour among staff could lead to serious harm or injury.
Despite all the safety precautions that are put in place in the UK, there are still an estimated 629,000 workers who suffer injury at work over the course of a year – and the majority of these occur in the last two months of the year.
Remember, attention to health and safety is not just about obeying the law and being socially responsible. It also makes good business sense:
  • Reduces your accident losses
  • Improves your profit and loss statement
  • Helps you become more efficient
  • Creates good staff morale
  • Improve your business profile with customers, clients, insurers, enforcers etc.
This Christmas, don’t risk becoming a work related injury statistic. Click on the advent doors in the calendar – developed by warehouse and logistics productivity specialist Vero Solutions – below to find out about safeguarding yourself as an employee or an employer this festive season.
