Edinburgh mail service vows to keep things moving amid strikes

Mail Boxes Etc says it can keep Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide post and parcels moving throughout Christmas, New Year and beyond

Five days of Post Office strikes are set to begin today (Monday, 19 December) affecting all Crown Post Offices in the UK up until Christmas Eve.
Should this continue to take place, however, Edinburgh businesses can rest assured that an alternative service will make sure their post and parcels get there in time – thanks to Mail Boxes Etc, which has vowed to keep things moving from its locations in Rose Street, South Bridge and Morningside.
John-Eirik Docherty, one of three local businessmen who run own the Edinburgh stores, said: “We understand that customers will be concerned. But the good news is that we can keep Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide Christmas post and parcels moving.
“Our store is unaffected by the industrial action, so If you are planning to send urgent documents or packages during this time, please contact us for advice.
“We can help to ensure the safe, on-time delivery of your packages as both Royal Mail and Parcelforce collect from our stores each working day.
“We have plenty of capacity too, which is particularly crucial over Christmas and New Year, when everyone is rushing to get their parcels to friends, family, loved ones and of course business clients, placing increased demand on parcel couriers.
“Our relationships with all the major international and domestic shippers mean we can keep special delivery and signed-for post and packets moving, as well as ensuring that parcels get to all UK and worldwide destinations in time for Christmas.
“And because we’re local – with more than 160 stores across the country, we’re ideally placed for customers to drop off their parcels, take advantage of our expert packing services and talk to us about the best shipping options for each item and destination.”
