Landlords – do you know about the Affordable Warmth Scheme?

Time could be running out to apply for free storage heaters for private tenants who are off the gas grid

Landlords in Scotland, did you know you may be able to apply for a Landlord Storage Heater Grant to improve your property if it’s without a mains gas supply?
You could also earn extra kudos from your tenants by applying on their behalf for free storage heaters under the Government-backed Affordable Warmth Scheme – an initiative one company claims the Government is failing to tell people about.
Heating installer Warm and Secure says tenants living in private rented households without any mains gas could receive free storage heaters under the Government-backed Affordable Warmth Scheme, which was set up by the energy companies to tackle fuel poverty.
It claims the Government isn’t telling anyone about it and is, therefore, preventing UK residents from having warmer homes and cheaper gas bills, while thousands of households who could benefit are enduring poor standards of living.
Find out more here about the Affordable Warmth Scheme, to which landlords can apply on behalf of their tenants, who must be in receipt of qualifying benefits, such as Child Tax Credit, Income Support or Universal Credit.
Landlords, you may also be able to apply for a Landlord Storage Heater Grant to improve your property up until March 2017.
