Have your say on St Andrews’ proposed new ‘Urban Quarter’

St Andrews West consultation process gets underway

St Andrews West LLP has launched an online questionnaire to ensure as many people as possible can input their views on a new urban Quarter for the town, which will be developed over 20 years.
This launch follows two consultation events held on 22 and 23 February where views were sought on the development which is likely to consist of new homes, university expansion, business, employment, a hotel, care home, retail, education and community facilities, with associated open space, road network and infrastructure.
Master planning, traffic, engineering and environmental consultants, as well as members of St Andrews West LLP, were on hand to present the planning work currently underway to ensure the new Quarter will be well-connected with the existing town and sensitive to its landscape setting.
The information boards and questionnaires presented at the events have now been made available online to ensure the widest possible engagement.
Planning consultant David Wardrop of Wardrop Strategic Planning said: “We were very heartened with the response from residents who see the importance of engaging with the consultation process and presenting their views as to what the new Quarter should contain.
“Affordable housing, green spaces, good infrastructure and cycling path provisions were strong themes emerging from those attending and this feedback, as well as information gathered through our online survey, will feature in the masterplan.
“The robust consultation and planning process will make sure that the location of housing, community facilities, university development, open space and the street structure are all considered at the outset.
“With careful design, St. Andrews West will feel very much part of the town and complement, preserve and enhance the historic centre. We would ask everyone with a view to log on and submit their responses.”

The deadline for submission 24 March 2017.
