Scotland Aston Martin break tempts global Bond fans

Thrillseekers invited to celebrate Global James Bond Day with weekend away in Scotland

Thrillseekers are being tempted to celebrate today’s Global James Bond Day (Thursday, 5 October) by booking an Aston Martin 007 Weekend, which takes in some of Scotland’s scenic film locations.
Today marks the 1962 release of Dr No – the first film in the series – and although the next James Bond film isn’t set for release until 2019, those looking for a stylish 007 experience sooner are invited to combine the thrill of driving a convertible Aston Martin past some of Scotland’s scenic 007 film locations with a stay in a five-star hotel on its own private island.
Location highlights include Faslane Naval Base, which featured in The Spy Who Loved Me; the Loch by Crinan, the scene of a boat chase through the Bosphorus in From Russia with Love, and Glencoe, the setting for the dramatic finale in Skyfall.
The two-night trip includes three days’ hire of an Aston Martin DB9 (from Edinburgh or Glasgow), a two-night stay at the luxurious Isle of Eriska Hotel with breakfast, dinner and a Martini master class, a private speedboat ride to the Isle of Mull and entrance to Duart Castle – an island fortress and the ancestral home of Clan Maclean, which is thought to have inspired Ian Fleming’s James Bond.
