Chartered accountancy firm Thomson Cooper has enlisted the help of a fraud prevention expert to talk business owners through the latest scams and deceptions at an Edinburgh event next month.
It’s hosting a free Fraud Prevention Seminar on December 3 at the Hilton Grosvenor and is urging people to snap up tickets quickly due to limited spaces for the event, which will see Stewart Thom, head of advisory services for global IT security at RBS, explain how businesses can be on their guard.
A spokesperson for Thomson Cooper, which has offices in Edinburgh and Dunfermline, said: “It seems that every week fraudsters develop a new scam to target business owners and individuals. Their use of technology has resulted in increasingly sophisticated methods of deception. Unfortunately, it’s an issue that affects everyone.
“We’ve attended one of Stewart’s presentations before and found it be very beneficial. We firmly believe that everyone can learn something of value from him and would advise you to book as soon as possible as spaces are limited at this free event.”
