Council visit confirms manufacturing in Fife is thriving

Fife Council’s deputy leader pays a visit to McDonald Engineers UK – just one of the firms helping to drive the local economy

Manufacturing in the Kingdom is thriving, according to Fife Council, whose deputy leader paid a special visit to McDonald Engineers UK in Glenrothes this week to check out production in the region for herself.
Councillor Lesley Laird, who is also the Council’s executive spokesperson for economy and planning, called on the Fife firm, which is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of hot water storage solutions for both domestic and commercial installations, to witness first-hand the innovation which takes place in the production of its wide range of hot water cylinder storage.
She said: “I am hugely impressed with the quality and standard McDonald Engineers UK has achieved through continual innovation and investment in the organisation.
“Continued investment in the Kingdom is helping to drive the local economy.
“Their pride in producing a quality product is very evident, and both the management team and staff have created a positive culture of working to deliver results in a very competitive marketplace.

“Constant investment in new machinery enables them to produce an extensive product range and a flexible service. They are a great example of a Fife business that has established a reputation for exceptional high quality and service.”

“By visiting businesses, I get to hear about the opportunities and challenges facing the private sector locally. These visits are just one of the ways that Fife Council is working in partnership with business in Fife, to make the region the best place to do business.”

McDonald Engineers UK is a privately-owned, independent manufacturer of copper hot water tanks and bespoke water storage solutions.

Its expertise is regularly called upon by architects, engineers, specifiers and installers to ensure the most effective and efficient cylinders are delivered.

Managing director Bill Stewart said: “I was delighted to show Cllr Lesley Laird around our facility, and demonstrate our flexible manufacturing process and expertise in design and manufacturing.

“We have been very successful in incorporating renewable energy into both commercial and domestic water storage and are very proud of our quality standards.
“Our knowledge and experience is called on to advise on designs that minimise the installation process for one-off or large scale projects.
“So, no matter what size, shape, dimension or capacity we can manufacture a hot water storage solution to fit any specification.”
