Home Social Shepherd and Wedderburn sustain Edinburgh families over Christmas
Law firm supports Trussell Trust foodbanks during the festive period and helps to feed local families for three days
Staff at law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Edinburgh office have helped to support 13 families visiting the Edinburgh North West and Central Foodbank over the festive period by collecting and donating 256kg of food, which covered all their meals for at least three days.
In the run-up to Christmas, staff stocked up on food and toiletry supplies to donate to their local Trussell Trust foodbanks. For three weeks, collection points were installed across the firm’s Edinburgh, Glasgow and London offices, which, on collection day, were not only overflowing with day-to-day food essentials, such as pasta, cereal and canned good, but also toiletry items and festive treats for families to enjoy over the holidays.
The firm’s donations were also gratefully received by the volunteers at the Glasgow South East Foodbank located at Govanhill, as well as the Hackney Foodbank in London, which were busy preparing festive packages for families in the local area.
The firm’s food collections were topped up with cash donations to support the running costs of each foodbank. In Edinburgh, the money will go towards the purchase of a new van, an essential tool in moving the 77 tonnes of food collected annually around the city.
London’s Hackney Foodbank will use the donation to help facilitate its planned warehouse move.
