Closure of further stores in Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow as sales negotiations continue
Three more Ness Clothing stores, including the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre branch in Edinburgh, are set to close today (Monday, 6 February) as the firm sinks deeper into administration.
Those located in Perth and Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre are the other two to cease trading with immediate effect, following seven other prior store closures.
Joint Administrators at BDO LLP are continuing discussions with a preferred bidder and are hopeful of finalising the sale of the business shortly.
James Stephen, BDO business restructuring partner, said: “Discussions with the preferred bidder are progressing well and shoppers and loyal customers continue to support the business. However, further store closures have been unavoidable in the current difficult trading climate. Regrettably, 13 staff from these stores will be made redundant.”
While the sale of the business is finalised, the remaining Ness Clothing stores in Inverness, York, Keswick and the two on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, continue to trade along with the Ness website.
Ness Clothing will also showcase its Spring/Summer 2017 collection at the forthcoming February trade shows.
