Gillian Beaton appointed business development marketing manager at the five-star visitor attraction after an absence of four years
The Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh has appointed Gillian Beaton to the newly-created role of business development marketing manager.
Returning to five-star visitor attraction after four years as marketing manager at The Royal Yacht Britannia, Beaton will focus on strengthening the travel trade and intermediary side of the business.
The attraction says this new role will strengthen the marketing team at what is a busy time.
Latest figures show tours are up 12% for 2016, while total visitors and customers up 9% on the previous year. After their first full year of operation, the attraction’s refurbished corporate and events spaces also reported a 27% increase in revenue, with the number of delegates up 55%.
In her previous role at Britannia, Beaton worked extensively on the marketing of evening and corporate events. In her new role at The Scotch Whisky Experience, she will develop the corporate and group travel offering, as well as exploring both new markets and routes to market.
Passionate about accessibility, Beaton also worked on improving disabled access at Britannia – work she will continue in her new role.
She originally did her Chartered Institute Digital Marketing Diploma at The Scotch Whisky Experience in 2012 when she held the role of deputy marketing manager.
Beaton said: “I am looking forward to taking on this new challenge as business development marketing manager. Although a lot of the names and faces here are familiar, the business has gone through a number of major changes during my time away, due to the increasing popularity of whisky. We have a great opportunity to grow the business this year and I look forward to being a part of such a successful team once more.”
