Christie & Co to market 28-acre Cringletie House Hotel

Property specialist brings £2.15m Peebles hotel with growth potential to market

Business property specialist Christie & Co has been instructed to market the Cringletie House Hotel and its 28-acre estate in Peebles.
The firm, which operates 15 UK and 16 international offices, including one in Edinburgh, says the recently renovated property is an excellent example of a Scottish Baronial country house hotel.

Owned by Johanna and Jacob van Houdt for the last 14 years, Cringletie comprises 13 bespoke bedrooms, a two-bedroom letting cottage and staff accommodation. Featuring its own woodlands, a 400-year-old walled garden, and Dutch-style parterre garden, the property was crowned winner of the AA Hotel of The Year Scotland award in 2013.
According to Christie & Co, the estate has potential for development and plans have already been made for a new letting block. It says there is also space for luxury lodges or a spa to be provided on the grounds.
Mr and Mrs Van Houdt, who are soon to retire, said: “We did previously trial a confidential marketing approach with a general business agent and we now feel a shift to the specialist hotel marketing department of Christie & Co will generate positive leads from their national and international client base.”
Stuart Drysdale, Associate Director in the Hotel and Hospitality department at Christie & Co, added: “Cringletie House is a superb example of a Country House Hotel, and located only 20 miles from Edinburgh is a superb base for visitors to enjoy a country estate in relaxed surroundings. We have had strong initial interest from international buyers and I look forward to marketing this impressive property.”
Cringletie House Hotel is for sale off an asking price of £2.15m.
