The UK’s Official Public Record since 1665 diversifies to help registered UK companies attract and win new business
All UK businesses registered at Companies House will, from today (Wednesday, 13 September), be able to customise their company profiles featured in The Gazette, the UK’s Official Public Record since 1665.
They will be able to use the new customisation feature launched by The Gazette – a trusted, reliable and official source of information accessed by more than 175,000 potential customers every month – to protect themselves against fraud, demonstrate compliance, and attract new business.
Every registered UK business has a standard company profile on The Gazette, which includes notices and information from Companies House, providing a complete and unbiased picture of a company on an official platform.
Companies which sign up for customisable profiles (for an annual or monthly membership fee) will be able to add in a bespoke description of their organisation, as well as products and services. They will also be able to add social media links, contact details, website URLs and company logos.
As part of the customisation package, companies can also download The Gazette digital badge, which can be added on their website and email communications with a link back to their verified profile.
Information held on the official public record is permanent and could, therefore, save businesses time if they send out the URL for bids, tenders and quotations for work.
Businesses will also be able to use their profile page to demonstrate their legitimacy as a company and showcase important information, such as how long they have been in operation and their compliance with business governance. Official social media handles can even be added as part of their profile page customisation.
Even if a company has yet to build an official website, they can direct potential customers to a verified web page containing important company information if they sign up for a company profile.

Janine Eves, Business and Operations Director at The Gazette, said: “It has never been more important to demonstrate transparency, or to secure a strong reputation, by appearing on one of the world’s best-established sources of public record.
“Companies that sign up for customisable profiles can differentiate themselves from competitors in their industry, demonstrate corporate compliance and help reduce the likelihood of falling victim to corporate fraud. UK plc benefits when firms are able to make informed business decisions based on officially validated data.
“Given the volumes of businesses operating in the UK it can be difficult for business owners and operators to differentiate their enterprises, especially when other companies may have the same name or similar offering.
“Customisable profiles enable companies to direct prospective business partners and customers to the official public record to validate they are a legitimate enterprise and access information from Companies House, including annual accounts and details of the registered company directors.”
Users of The Gazette, which receives around 17 million page views every year, can take advantage of the free search function to look up a company by its name, company number, location, SIC code or date of incorporation.
